Mulla Villa is situated in the Wollombi valley on a 75 acre property, home to an abundance of native wildlife. From paddocks to creek banks, steep hills to rainforests and into the caves, our property has plenty of space for you to explore nature. Go bushwalking or drive the 4 wheel drive track to the caves. The property is abundant with many varieties of trees including fruit, natives and myrtles. The myrtle is native to Wollombi valley and we have hundreds around the property. Stay the night and wake up early to enjoy an morning stroll and catch a sight of the nocturnal animals, such as kangaroos and wombats, making their way home. Alternatively, sit on the verandah of Mulla Villa Restaurant and enjoy the views and maybe catch a glimpse of the kangaroos and wombats out for their evening dining experience. Mulla Villa and the Wollombi valley are full of native flora and fauna. We recommend you bring your camera and a little patience and they will appear.
Mulla Villa is a stunning sandstone property, built by convicts in 1840. It was the original local Magistrate’s home in the Wollombi Valley. The first owner of Mulla Villa was David Dunlop – he lived there with his wife Eliza. Both David and Eliza were born in Ireland, and are buried in the Wollombi cemetary. Today you can tour the original convict cells, enjoy a walk to the old well, and learn more about the Convict Trail on your way to Mulla Villa. Why not enjoy a meal at Mulla Villa Restaurant next to the original fireplace. Established in 1840 the main homestead, now 4 B&B rooms, was originally built for the local magistrate and his wife. Now 178 years on, the property still has a much to offer. Mulla Villa Restaurant has been extended to include outdoor deck dining as well as seating on the homestead deck and the grassed areas overlooking the property. We recently saved the old cowshed and turned it into a stunning, barn style, rustic wedding venue where you can hold your affordable country style wedding or event.
